Know before you go! D.C.'s train fares are base on zoning, meaning the farther you travel the more you pay. Things can get complicated - and expensive - so check it out.

NEWSEUM

http://www.newseum.org/

A museum all about news! One of the best museums I've ever been to. At $21 admission, it's a bit pricey, but The Washington Center hosts a paid field trip for Media & Communications students - if you're not in that program, it'd be worth it to ask if you can tag along.

NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN

http://www.usbg.gov/

Definitely check this out AFTER Thanksgiving. The gardens are great anytime, but there's a special miniatures display during the holidays.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

http://www.loc.gov/index.html

The largest collection of maps in the world, some of America's most noteworthy movies, and of course hoards of historical documents. Plus it's right down the street from The Washington Center apartments!
